Rincon Island Causeway

Rincon Island Causeway

The Rincon Island Causeway is a 3,000 foot bridge built in 1958 to provide access to Rincon Island which was the location of the first subsea well head in California. Cushman was hired to perform condition assessments and replace steel pilings, caps and stringers. The existing members to remain were sandblasted and coated utilizing a sealed envelope to contain the media, paint and rust. To determine which pilings would require replacement the pilings were water blasted and tested with ultrasonic methods.
